Jewelry Care Guide
Jewelry Care Guide: General Care Tips
Store Properly: Keep your jewelry in a clean, dry place. Use a jewelry box or pouch to prevent scratches and tangling.
Limit Exposure: Protect your jewelry from exposure to chemicals found in perfumes, lotions, hairsprays, and cleaning products. These can tarnish and damage your pieces.
Wear With Care: Put on your jewelry after applying makeup and styling hair to avoid contact with cosmetic products.
Handle with Care: When putting on or taking off your jewelry, do so gently to avoid bending, breaking, or loosening stones and settings.
Cleaning Your Jewellery
Regular Cleaning: Clean your jewelry regularly to maintain its shine. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe your pieces after each wear.
Mild Cleaning Solutions: For a deeper clean, use a mild soap solution. Soak your jewelry in warm water mixed with a few drops of mild dish soap for a few minutes, then gently scrub with a soft toothbrush.
Avoid Abrasives: Do not use abrasive cleaners, brushes, or cloths that can scratch the surface of your jewelry.
Dry Thoroughly: After cleaning, dry your jewelry thoroughly with a soft cloth before storing it away.
Gemstone Care
Diamonds: Clean with a mild soap solution and a soft toothbrush. Be mindful of settings and avoid harsh chemicals.
Pearls: Wipe with a damp cloth after each wear. Pearls are porous and can be damaged by chemicals and excessive moisture.
Colored Gemstones: Each gemstone has specific care requirements. Generally, clean with mild soap and water, avoiding harsh chemicals. For specific gemstones, refer to our [Birth Stone Care Guide] (see the sections below).

Moonstone Care
Moonstones are delicate and require special care to maintain their mystical beauty:
- Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Keep your moonstone away from acids, alkalis, and abrasive cleaners. Clean gently with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap if needed.
- Store Safely: Store moonstone jewelry separately in a soft pouch or lined jewelry box to prevent scratches.
- Handle with Care: Moonstones are relatively soft (6-6.5 on the Mohs scale) and can be easily scratched. Avoid wearing them during rigorous activities.
- Protect from Heat: Prolonged exposure to high temperatures can damage moonstones. Keep them away from direct sunlight and extreme heat sources.
- Regular Checks: Inspect settings regularly to ensure the stone is secure. Loose stones should be handled by a professional jeweler.
By following these tips, you can preserve the enchanting allure of your moonstone jewellery.

Opal Care
We use fine Ethiopian Opals in our jewelry. Opals are brittle stones, approximately as hard as glass. They should be worn with special attention, as they are extremely susceptible to damage if worn all the time. Ethiopian opals should not get wet or be exposed to excessive heat or changes in temperature, and should be stored in cool, dry areas in tissue. Take these pieces off when washing hands, showering, using soaps or lotions, and during exercise. For cleaning, we recommend using a soft linen cloth to polish the stones.
Diamond Care
We recommend cleaning your diamond jewelry with warm water, a soft toothbrush, and dish soap. Gently scrub the top and underside of the diamonds with the brush, and rinse with water to remove grease over time. If you are planning on steam cleaning or using an ultrasonic cleaner, we highly recommend checking for loose stones prior to use. Like any fine piece of jewelry, we recommend taking off for strenuous exercise, or any activities in which you may be excessively using your hands.
Pearl Care
Pearls are extremely fragile, and because of this, are both set and glued into their settings. They should be worn with special attention, as they are susceptible to damage if worn all the time. Pearl jewelry should not be worn under hot water, be exposed to excessive heat, and should be stored in cool, dry areas in tissue. Take these pieces off when washing hands, showering, using soaps or lotions, and during exercise. If hit with any force, the pearls can break in their setting or become loose. It is not unusual to have to replace chipped, cracked, or missing pearls throughout the lifetime of the jewelry. For cleaning, we recommend using a soft linen cloth to polish the stones.
Turquoise Care
Turquoise is a soft porous stone, and can be susceptible to damage, depending on the lifestyle of the wearer. The natural turquoise we use may change color over time — the amount of color change depends on the wearer and things like, amount of sunlight, heat exposure, if you are washing your hands with the rings and the type of soap you are using, and even the body chemistry of the wearer. Improper care can cause the color change of turquoise to happen more quickly. Because of the soft porosity of the stone, they are both set and glued into their settings.
Turquoise jewelry should be worn with special attention, as it is susceptible to damage if worn improperly. It should not be worn under hot water, worn when cleaning or using soaps (even some hand soap), be exposed to excessive heat, and should be stored in cool, dry areas in tissue. Take these pieces off when washing hands, showering, using soaps or lotions, and during exercise. It is not unusual to have to replace chipped, cracked, or missing turquoise throughout the lifetime of the jewelry. For cleaning, we recommend using a soft linen cloth to polish the stones.
