Tanzanite 18K Diamond Lotus Earrings
Fleeting Moments
Sleeping Beauty
Tanzanite, a gemstone recently discovered in the new century, consistently captivates me with its mysterious blue-purple hue. While most tanzanites available in the gemstone market undergo heat treatment, resulting in deep blue tones, I unexpectedly obtained a batch of naturally saturated and untreated trillion-cut tanzanites a few months ago.
Eager to showcase the exceptional beauty of these gemstones, I had them re-cut with even greater precision to enhance their exquisite fire. Fortunately, under the expert craftsmanship of a master, this batch of tanzanites underwent a stunning transformation. Contemplating the perfect, untreated tanzanites, I pondered the theme that would best complement their brilliance.
At that moment, my photo album sent a notification, reminding me of the lotus pond next to Singapore ArtScience Museum, where lotus blossoms illuminated brilliantly in the sunlight. This, I thought, might be a sign. Indeed, the creative process involves continually extracting inspiration and metaphor from life. I recalled my visit to Monet’s garden in Giverny a few years ago, where the inspiring and joyful water-lily pond happened to coincide with the season of the lotus pond photo in Singapore. This synchronicity inspired me to capture the beauty of these water lilies on a pair of tanzanite earrings, envisioning how they would sparkle on the ears like the shimmering waves of a lotus pond.
